But in the last 6 years, they've completely sold us out to Flock Safety, Inc. How can we stop this?
Honestly...
- Stop electing morons that support mass surveillance at the local and state level. A new Governor could revoke this mandatory 287(g) participation garbage, so officers aren't being forced to do ICE's bidding.
- Alert your sitting elected officials like County Commissioners and City Councils that this grant funding has a recurring subscription cost, and once the grant funding runs out, the city or county will have to assume the responsibility of these AI mass surveillance networks. (Cities and counties are already legally liable for any misuse or abuse abuse of ALPR systems by LEO. According to the contacts/service agreements/MOUs signed by the AI powered ALPR companies and LEO, the company assumes no legal liability when LEO or other end-users misuse or abuse the systems, despite the fact the companies created the technology that is actively being used to track your movements and violate your rights.)
- If your sheriff's office is requesting these grant funds for AI mass surveillance, VOTE THEM OUT.
- If your County Commission or City Council is complicit or rubber stamping your Sheriff or Police Department budget with AI mass surveillance in it, VOTE THEM OUT.
- Contact your statewide representation in both the Florida House and Senate and demand legislative change.

⤑ During the July 19, 2026 BoCC meeting, Sheriff Grady Judd said (in reference to people that object to PCSO's use of AI technology) "The bad actors will use technology to commit crime and get to your children so the 1/10th of 100th of 1%, that are yapping, and their whole concern is that they are the criminals that want to get away, but aren’t getting away anymore. But they got a cell phone and now they got a voice on social media. And some elected officials, in some moronic places will listen to that moronic thought, and say hey, lets go back and ride a horse and buggy while criminals are on jet planes. We’re not going to allow that to happen because we’re going to do what’s right and we’re going to protect privacy". ⬸

Flock Safety, Inc. is the largest ALPR provider in America, with over 80% of the ALPR market share. Per the current total ALPR logged cameras on DeFlock.org Florida is the second most surveilled state in the country with 7,169 ALRP cameras logged on DeFlock's map. (California, a state that is roughly 100,000 square miles larger than Florida, is in first place with around 16,000 ALPRs deployed.) Please note that DeFlock's map only accounts for the camera locations input by users who spot the cameras out in the wild. The map does not account for all ALPR deployments. So, if you see a camera that isn't posted on the map, please consider adding it to improve the public's understanding of ALPR deployments across the state.
